About Kalpa

Kalpa is the classic Kinnaur viewpoint — apple orchards, an old Narayan-Nagini temple and sunrise lighting up the Kinnaur Kailash peaks directly across the Sutlej valley.

Kalpa sits on a ridge above Reckong Peo and looks straight across at the Kinnaur Kailash range (6,050 m), which turns pink and gold at sunrise. The Shivling rock on Kinnaur Kailash is visible from the village on clear days.

The old village has a Narayan-Nagini temple with beautiful wood carving, the Hu-Bu-Lan-Kar Buddhist monastery and narrow lanes through apple orchards. Kalpa also has some of the best hotels in Kinnaur.

Kalpa is the perfect base to explore Roghi village, the Suicide Point cliffs, Chini village and Kothi’s Chandika Devi temple.
