About Sarahan & Bhimakali Temple
Sarahan is the gateway to Kinnaur, home of the stunning Bhimakali temple — a towering Indo-Tibetan wood-and-stone temple, one of the 51 shakti peeths, with Shrikhand Mahadev views.
Sarahan was the summer capital of the Bushahr kings. The Bhimakali temple complex, built in the kath-kuni style with layered stone and wood and silver-plated doors, is one of the most beautiful temples in the Himalaya.
Most Kinnaur tours from Shimla break the journey here or stop for darshan on the way up to Sangla. The village faces the Shrikhand Mahadev range across the Sutlej.
